SIBU: University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) will hold a ‘UCTS 2016 Campus Recruitment and Career Fair’ for the first time this Friday.UCTS vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Abdul Hakim Juri said the event will be held at the university campus in Teng Chin Hua Road here from 9am to 5pm.“It is open to the public, particularly students from nearby higher learning institutes and all UCTS students and graduates.
“The purpose is to provide career opportunities for our final year students who will be graduating soon,” he told a press conference at UCTS here yesterday, adding that about 100 UCTS students will complete their studies this year.
So far, 14 companies had confirmed their participation in the event and they will set up exhibition booths, he said. They are KTS Trading, Hock Peng Group, Deloitte Tax Services, Homelite Development, Jaya Tiasa Holdings, OM Materials (Sarawak), Power Plugs Busduct, Press Metal Sarawak, Rimbunan Sawit Berhad, Sakura Ferroalloys, Sirim Measurement Technology, TekMark, Titanium Project Management and Tokuyama Malaysia.“We still welcome any other companies interested to join this event,” he said.He also encouraged students seeking future internship to come to the event.“For job seekers, they should bring along their resume and relevant documents,” he added.
Also present at the press conference were KTS Group deputy managing director Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau, Hock Peng Group chairman Datuk Toh Chiew Hock, UCTS deputy vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Sabarudin Mohd, Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce, Temenggong Stanley Geramong, Hock Peng director and investment manager Johana Toh, Hock Peng regional manager for western region Alex Wong, and organising chairman Dr Thomas Moh.
